Matt Damon spent last week promoting his latest movie Green Zone in NYC. He attended the movie premiere at AMC Loews Lincoln Center on Thursday, Feb. 25th, but the following day his movie promotion fell under the radar for many of us fans.
OLV member Cassie Chao received a last minute tip that Matt Damon would be speaking at the Apple store in Soho for a “Meet the Filmmakers” podcast. The podcast featured both Matt Damon and Director Paul Greengrass and focused on the “electrifying thriller” Green Zone.
Cassie Chao first shopped around for additional products for her macbook before heading upstairs to their open theater. She describes her experience below:
I snagged two seats, one for my friend and one for myself. At 6pm, Matt and Paul came out with an interviewer to discuss Green Zone and everything that went into it, from film sites to portraying the soldiers in the Iraqi war effort. At the end of the session, there was a Q&A session where fans, aspiring actors and filmmakers alike could ask them questions about ANYTHING!
Matt’s answers made me re-evaluate my image of Hollywood actors and celebrities because he was so down to earth. He had a cute sense of humor and he felt very genuine.
When the session was over and he was about to leave, I ran up to him and asked to take a picture with him. He was more than happy, and responded “Sure thing! You have a camera ready?” And he took the picture! Probably lots of experience with that!
While she wasn’t allowed to use flash, she was able to take 4 amazing photos. I think it’s safe to say that we all agree Matt’s photography skills were the best.
Green Zone centers on a U.S. Army officer who goes rogue. and must rifle through faulty intelligence as he hunts for Weapons of Mass Destruction in an unstable region before war escalates. The movie officially opens in theaters on Friday, March 12, 2010.
