Yesterday, Man of Steel began filming around Galena/Route 56 overpass in Sugar Grove, IL and today, one of our readers, Andy, spotted the movie’s stars, Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner, and Diane Lane filming a scene at the location!
They are filming a scene in which cars (including the Kent’s family station wagon) are backed up because a tornado is bearing down on the highway. They even had a jet engine placed in front of the Kent’s car. In the photo above you can see Henry and Kevin in front of the car and in the photo below you can see Diane getting out of the car.
We’ve heard from several readers that is a very difficult location to get close to, but Andy, and a few other savvy fans, watched the shoot from a bike/walking path that connects to Ottawa Circle/Cyrus Drive in Sugar Grove.
Though a couple other readers have told us they saw production trucks leaving the location tonight, they are scheduled to return tomorrow. Base camp is located at Galena Blvd.
Over the weekend, Man of Steel shot a few scenes in West Chicago, IL. Andy was at that location as well and sent us the following photos, saying, “Here are some pictures of some kind of crane with 4 different arms moving around slowly in a circle. It’s hard to tell if the guys on them have cameras, but it looks more likely that they are the lighting crew using those sheets/flat wings to change lighting angles. I think the actors were filming just below them, out of my view.”
Of course, Man of Steel will also be filming in Plano, IL which they are slowly transforming into Smallville. They were originally expected to begin shooting in Plano on Saturday, but we’ve heard they shoot has been moved to next weekend. Gregory Zonsius and @Kimber12s sent a few photos of the sets being built in Plano, which you can check out below:
Thanks again to Andy, Greg, and Kim for sharing their pics! If you have any Superman set photos you’d like to share, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org!
