‘Parkland’ filming underway in Austin, TX

It looks like the Tom Hanks-produced movie Parkland began filming in Austin, TX today, right on schedule.

Thanks to one of our tipsters we’ve learned the movie spent most of the day filming downtown, around 7th and Lavaca St.

Parkland, which stars Zac Efron, Marcia Gay Harden, Paul Giamatti, and Billy Bob Thornton, will dramatize the day JFK was assassinated.

Most filming will take place in Austin through Feb. 13 at which time additional scenes are expected to be shot in the Los Angeles area.

Brock Allen Casting is handling extras for the project in Texas, you can find more information on their Facebook page.

  1. From what I hear, this is just more “hogwash history”. Considering the huge body of evidence pointing to a conspiracy, some people obviously are invested in the big lie about LHO and JFK.
That’s very disappointing. The Warren Commission was a blatant cover-up ordered by LBJ, Hoover, and Dulles. This points to their fear of the truth. It took me fifty years to arrive at this conclusion. I knew the people. I’ve read the history. So, even if they begged me to have a speaking role in this Parkland nonsense, I couldn’t do it.

    • But don’t get me wrong. I love a good movie. Tom Hanks and Zac Efron are reason enough to buy a ticket to Parkland when it comes to a theater. I’ll be doing that.

  2. I work one block over from 7th & Lavaca; I’ve seen their film crew the last few mornings in front of an old building where The Texas Observer is officed. Also saw a vintage police vehicle and a vintage truck. Pretty cool. What is NOT cool is the major construction going on right beside them. So I’ve been wondering… do they film at night or at wee early-morning hours when there is virtually no traffic and city hustle & bustle?
