‘The Vampire Diaries’ spinoff ‘The Originals’ begins filming in Atlanta & New Orleans

One of this pilot season’s most highly anticipated shows is The Originals, which centers on the original vampires featured in The Vampire Diaries.

The Originals will follow Klaus (Joseph Morgan), “who returns to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, a town he helped build centuries ago, and is reunited with his diabolical former protege Marcel (The Game’s Charles Michael Davis).”

Claire Holt will also reprise her role as original vamp Rebekah, Klaus’ half sister. Other familiar faces will include Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and werewolf Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin). Daniella Pineda and Danielle Campbell have also joined the cast as witches, while Leah Pipes will play Camille, a human unaware of the supernatural universe that exists around her.

The pilot will air April 25 as an episode of The Vampire Diaries. If the series is picked up, it will debut on The CW in the fall.

The Originals pilot/Vampire Diaries episode 420 is currently filming in and around Atlanta. On Thursday, they will be filming a scene in Olde Town Conyers, GA, where they’ve already started converting buildings for the shoot. They are also looking for extras to play vamps.

The shoot will likely move to New Orleans next week where Batherson Casting will handle extras casting.

  1. I can’t wait to see Klaus and the other Mikaelson’s outside of Mystic Falls! I am also glad that I won’t risk missing this pilot using my DISH Anywhere app. With how much my job at DISH requires me to travel; I always use my app to stream the shows I record on my DVR to my tablet. Spending my downtime at the airport finding out about the new threats in New Orleans will make my wait, much more entertaining.
