Back in May Martin Scorsese signed on as an executive producer of a new movie revolving around the life of Rhode Island boxing legend Vinny Paz, now it seems as if the project will be headed to Rhode Island for principal shooting.
The movie which is tentatively titled Bleed for This “tells the story of how Paz recovered from a near-fatal car crash, then went on to win three world boxing titles” and is expected to start filming in fall this year.
The project is run by East Greenwich native Chad Verdi, who purchased the rights to the Vinny Paz story back in in 2009. Verdi said that so far five different writers have worked on the project, in addition to Scorsese he had previously signed on scriptwriter and director Ben Younger.
The movie is scheduled for release in 2016.
