This week Jessica Chastain celebrated her 37th birthday with friends in Toronto.
The actress shared the news with fans on her Facebook page, writing, “My friends have traveled to Toronto to begin the Birthday festivities. There was a delicious dinner at Brassaii, ping pong matches, crazy dancing, and karaoke. The past few years has been so wonderful and full of work that I sometimes feel like I live on a film set. It was great to spend time with my nearest and dearest. It’s a reminder of what’s important in life.”
This was the closest thing to an update on Crimson Peak – the Guillermo del Toro movie Jessica is currently shooting – that we’ve seen a few weeks.
The movie is currently filming under the working title Haunted Peak at Pinewood Toronto Studios, with Jessica, Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, and Mia Wasikowska.
Because the shoot is taking place in studio and the cast has been keeping a pretty low profile, updates from the set have been few and far between. The last update from De Toro was this photo of Dundurn Castle in Hamilton, ON, which will be one of the few exterior locations used in the movie, posted on Mar. 14.
“It’s an adult movie, an R-rated movie, pretty adult,” Guillermo Del Toro has said about Crimson Peak. “Shockingly different from anything I’ve done in the English language. Normally, when I go to do a movie in America for the spectacle and younger audience, for Blade or whatever. This movie’s tone is scary and it’s the first time I get to do a movie more akin to what I do in the Spanish movies.”
Crimson Peak is expected to continue filming at Pinewood through May 14.
