Report: ‘Star Wars Episode 7’ begins filming in Abu Dhabi tomorrow

It looks like those reports of Star Wars: Episode 7 preparing to film Tatooine scenes in Abu Dhabi are proving to be true.

The National is reporting the movie’s cast and crew will begin filming in the Abu Dhabi desert on Tuesday May 13. Though there are no details given about who will be there or what scenes they’ll be shooting, the article does note filming will last until at least the end of the month.

Their local sources also report, “sets are getting closer to completion, with a “whole world” having been built on an otherworldly salt lake at one location, a “shuttle-like” spacecraft, a large tower, a “big, centuries-old-looking market”, something the crew are reportedly referring to as the “alien house” and 10 to 15 “really fast buggies” powered by jet engines.”

Star Wars: Episode 7 will hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
