John Travolta’s latest action-thriller “I Am Wrath” is set to begin production in Columbus, Ohio, in mid-March. Directed by Chuck Russell (‘The Mask’), and produced by Michael Mendelsohn, Nick Vallelonga and Richard Salvatore, “I Am Wrath” is based on a story by French film editor Yvan Gauthier.
Travolta will play Stanley Hill, a man who seeks vigilante justice on his wife’s killer, after he uncovers a thick plot of police corruption and realizes he will have to find justice on his own, since the corrupt officers fail to catch the suspect.
John Daugherty of the Greater Columbus Film Commission says the film has a $10 million budget and is produced by Patriot Pictures. Daugherty adds Ohio’s motion picture tax incentive was a factor in luring them to Columbus.
“This has a major Hollywood actor with lots of history,” mayor Michael B. Coleman said in a statement. “And if we combine this film with other efforts and keep trying to go down this road, it can help be a catalyst for additional film and television opportunities.”
Thanks to a tip by @Dustin2008, shooting will last about three weeks in the following locations: Ohio Statehouse, German Village and Ohio State Campus.
Production is also seeking extras in the Columbus area. If you would like to become an extra, you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. For other services, such as volunteering, you can email at email@example.com.
“I Am Wrath” is expected to be released in 2016.
