Spike Lee’s ‘Chiraq’ begins filming in Chicago

This week Spike Lee’s controversial new movie Chiraq began filming in Chicago. Today, the movie was spotted filming at the Double Door in Wicker Park. The venue was plastered with posters advertising a 21-and-over show by fictional rappers Terror Tee and Little Lelex.

Tomorrow, the movie is set to film on S Peoria St and at 6331 S Elizabeth St in Chicago overnight.

Chiraq refers to the comparison between Chicago’s “gun violence and danger level to that of the war zone in Iraq.” Samuel L. Jackson and Chicago natives Jeremy Piven, Common and Kanye West will star.
