The hit Netflix series 13 Reasons Why is preparing to film its second season in the San Francisco bay area this summer and, as part of that prep, they’re now looking for extras.
The casting call also gives a a few hint about some of the familiar locations fans might see in the second season. For instance, they are looking for people of any age to play coffee shop guests, high school teachers, and parents, an indication that the second season will once again take place during the school year and focus on Liberty High School. It also sounds like fans will be seeing Monet’s Café (which was set in the old City Lights building at 415 Virginia St in Vallejo, CA) again in season two.
The production is also looking for people who appear high school-aged to play student athletes including football players, cheerleaders, and boxers. Since there were no boxers in season one, this could indicate we’ll be seeing a new character, or two.
On Sunday, June 4, an open casting call for 13 Reasons Why will be held at USA World Classics Museum at 1525 Sonoma St. in Vallejo, CA from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. According to SFGate, they are in need of “extras and stand-ins for SAG & non-union paid positions.”
Anyone attending the audition should bring a photo or headshot; those under the age of 18 must get a California Entertainment Work Permit. An online talent registration form is also available to fill out ahead of time at MyCastingFile.com or here.
Filming will begin soon in Vallejo, San Rafael, and Sebastopol.
13 Reasons Why follows high school student Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), who recorded a series of cassette tapes for a number of her peers just before she killed herself. The tapes explain what led her to commit suicide. The show’s story line has caused controversy in many U.S. High Schools as some teachers and parents feel it promotes suicide, while others see it as a tool to open a dialog about this tough subject.
