Deadline reported that the long-awaited “Friends” reunion episode is currently being filmed in Los Angeles! Originally scheduled to air last May, the reunion got delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and there’s still no new date announced for it to be available on HBO Max. However, it is a good sign that they are finally moving ahead with the production.
Although it is supposed to be an unscripted conversation, and not an episode, Deadline also reported that there may be a few surprises for fans. It will feature the whole main cast: Matthew Perry, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc.
While the reunion doesn’t happen, fans in New York and in Chicago can enjoy “The Ultimate Experience” – an interactive exhibit that features set recreations, as well as original props and costumes. It also has a dedicated store for “Friends” merchandise.
In Chicago, the exhibit is located at 540 N Michigan Ave. and it as 12 rooms of set recreation, including Joey and Chandler’s apartment and Monica and Rachel’s kitchen.
The exhibit was first staged in New York in 2019 and is now back in the city in a bigger setting. Located at 130 E 23rd St (corner of 23rd St and Lexington Ave), it has two floors of interactive experiences.
The New York location also has the “Central Perk”, the famous coffee shop where the characters would meet in the show. It is currently open only from 7am to 10am, but you can check the updated schedule here.
Both locations are observing all COVID guidelines, with many health and safety measures being implemented or, as they call it, “it’s not jut clean, it’s Monica Clean”. You can view all of the protocols here.
