Each spring the television networks (including NBC, ABC, CBS, and The CW) present their fall lineups to the press and major advertisers in events referred to as “Upfronts.” These events allow marketers to buy advertising airtime “up front” at a discounted rate.
The networks bring their biggest stars along to help sell the new shows. Typically, Upfront Presentations are great opportunities for fans to meet many of their favorite celebrities at one time since they will stop and sign autographs on their way in and out of the presentations and after parties.
Most Upfronts take place in April and May at various venues around New York City, including Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, Hammerstein Ballroom, Roseland Ballroom, Cipriani 42nd Street, and Gotham Hall.
The presentation schedules are published in the spring by various media outlets including Deadline.com and HollywoodReporter.com. If you do plan to wait outside one of the Upfront venues, get there early! The crowds seem to get larger each year.
